Cartoners for Sachets and Stick Packs

Complete your line with compact secondary packaging.

What Is a Cartoner?

A cartoner, or automatic cartoning machine, is a secondary packaging machine that groups, loads and seals stick packs or 3-4 seal sachets into a pre-glued carton, ready for distribution or retail display. Mespack designs them to integrate with vertical (VFFS) and horizontal (HFFS) sachet and stick pack machines, delivering a fully integrated and coordinated line from primary to secondary packaging.

How the Cartoning Process Works

Cartoning process step 1: sachets and stick packs arrive from the VFFS/HFFS machine

1. Infeed

Sachets or stick packs arrive from the VFFS/HFFS machine, already formed and sealed.

Cartoning process step 2: the infeed system collates the product

2. Collating

The infeed system collates the product into the desired grouping configuration.

Cartoning process step 3: the folding carton is formed

3. Carton Forming

The folding carton is formed.

Cartoning process step 4: the product is loaded into the carton

4. Loading

The product is loaded into the carton.

Cartoning process step 5: the carton is closed and sealed

5. Closing

The carton is closed and sealed.

Cartoning process step 6: finished cartons are discharged for palletizing or distribution

6. Discharge

Finished cartons are discharged for palletizing or distribution.

Cartoning FAQs

A cartoner, or cartoning machine, is a secondary packaging machine that groups products, loads them into a folding carton and closes it, ready for distribution or retail display. Mespack designs them specifically for sachets and stick packs coming from vertical (VFFS) and horizontal (HFFS) form fill seal machines.

Sachets or stick packs arrive already formed and sealed from the primary machine. The infeed system collates them into the required count and configuration, the folding carton is formed, the product group is loaded, and the carton is closed and sealed. Finished cartons are discharged for case packing or palletising.

Mespack cartoning machines handle stick packs and sachets in single-count or multipack cartons: instant coffee and powdered drink sticks, soup and sauce sachets, vitamin and collagen stick packs, cosmetic sample sachets, home care doses and pet food or treat sachets.

A cartoner packs individual products, such as sachets or stick packs, into a folding carton, which is usually the pack the consumer buys. A case packer groups those cartons or other packs into a corrugated shipping case for transport, such as an RSC case packer or a wrap around case packer. Many lines use both, one after the other.

Mespack, a Duravant company based in Barcelona, is a cartoning machine manufacturer. Its CS | CL Series is a compact, servo-driven stick pack cartoner machine and sachet cartoner. As Mespack also builds the stick pack and sachet machines, it can supply the complete line as a single supplier.

Consider the product (sachet or stick pack) and its size, the count per carton, the carton format, the output of the primary machine, the space available and whether the line continues to case packing and palletising. Mespack assesses these factors to recommend the right CS | CL configuration.
